*Parent supervision suggested

*Disclosure: When using household bleach, you should ALWAYS wear gloves and work in a well ventilated area. I suggest working outdoors. If desired, you can also wear a mask.

Things you will need

  1. Endo Babe Sweatshirt or dark colored clothing of choice (at least 50% cotton, preferably 100%)
  2. Bleach
  3. Water
  4. Squirt bottle
  5. Rubber bands or hair ties
  6. Old cookie sheet
  7. Gloves
  8. Optional old towel to lay under the cookie sheet

INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1

Take your clean, dry sweatshirt and lay it flat on a countertop. You can do this with a wet sweatshirt but I did it dry. Starting at the corner, begin to scrunch the fabric up into a ball. There is no right or wrong way to do this. Secure each section with a rubber band or hair tie. Continue until all pieces are scrunched. You can secure each section as tight or as loose as you want here. I went more loose because I only had 4 rubber bands lol

The technique I used was the crumble technique. Here are other tie dye patterns you can try.

STEP 2

Do this outside due to the fumes from the bleach. Fill your squirt bottle with 50% bleach 50% water. Set aside. Set up your work area with an old towel and place the scrunched sweatshirt on your old cookie sheet.

(you do not have to use a squirt bottle if you don't have one. you can just pour the bleach mix right on the sweatshirt. The squirt bottle just allows for a more control.)

STEP 3

With gloves on, squirt or pour bleach mixture on your sweatshirt, making sure to get both sides. Do not worry about over doing it, there will still be tons of black/color left over.

STEP 4

Let sit for 10-30 minutes, checking every couple minutes or so for desired color change.

****if you let the bleach sit on too long, it can disintegrate your clothing. Especially if it is not at least 50% cotton. I left the bleach on the Endo Babe sweatshirt for exactly 30 minutes to get the color that you see in the pictures.

STEP 5

Remove rubber bands/hair ties by either cutting them or just removing them.

STEP 6

Take sweatshirt(s) and place in the tub or shower and rinse with cold water. The water will be colored as this is washing a lot of the bleach off.

STEP 7

Wash and dry the sweatshirt(s) alone on their own cycle in the washer + dryer.

**If you wash with anything else it could bleach the other items in the washer!

STEP 8

Enjoy!!! Take a picture and tag me on IG @chelseaaabri
